On Thursday, March 22, please join the Encuentro Diaspora Afro family and the UMASS Center for African, Caribbean and Community Development, La Red de Mujeres Afrolatinoamericanas, Afrocaribeñas y de la Diaspora and When and Where I Enter, Inc. for the Boston screening of \”Negro\” a Docu-Series by filmmaker, Dash Harris.

Following the showing of the film, Dash Harris will share more about her journey doing the film and you will also hear from the Encuentro Diaspora Afro staff featured and other familia members who will share what this film means to them.

This event is a celebration for Women\’s History Month. Encuentro Diaspora Afro\’s- Sonia Pierre Women\’s Initiative-seeks to strengthen the identity of Women of African descent, placing special emphasis on women from Latin America and the Caribbean and generating relationship of solidarity among all women of color. The Project was named after Sonia Pierre who was a leader in the movement. Sonia fought for the rights of Dominicans of Haitian descent in Santo Domingo. This fight still continues.
